Options360° is going to be changing our approach to Facebook and we’d like your help. These days a key way that young people check out businesses online is through Facebook, Twitter and other networks. Not just our website anymore!
“Client Only” Facebook will help us to reach more pregnant girls in our community!

By changing our Facebook (and Twitter!) to client-only, we will ensure that the girls coming to see us will only see our services, hours and a positive, comforting place to come in a very tough time in their lives.
We would, however, like to sincerely thank all of our current Facebook followers for their support of Options360°! We will be posting all future updates directly to our website Options360Partners.org. For any current news please see our Partners website!

A bill that allows women a chance to see an ultrasound of their unborn baby before an abortion is now headed to Governor Rick Perry, who plans to sign the pro-life measure into law.

After the Texas Senate signed off on the legislation, the state House, on a 94-41 vote, voted to concur on the Senate changes to HB 15, the sonogram bill. Now the state will become the latest to give women the kind of information about the development of their unborn child the normally don’t receive at abortion clinics — information that may prompt many to choose abortion alternatives.

The Senate passed the bill on second reading on a 21-10 vote and all hostile, pro-abortion amendments by Sens. Wendy Davis, Jose Rodriguez, and Leticia Van de Putte were defeated.

During the debate, the biggest point of contention was whether women should be allowed to see the ultrasound 24 hours before the abortion so they have time to reflect on the information and images showing the development of their unborn child. Without the reflection time, legislators were concerned abortion businesses may rush women into abortions they may not otherwise want if given time for consideration.

Sen. Carlos Uresti, a San Antonio Democrat, said the 24-hour waiting time would make it hard on women who live in rural areas because they would need to make two trips to the abortion center. But Sen. Bob Deuell, a Greenville Republican, said the bill is also about protecting unborn children. Women who live more than 100 miles from the abortion center are exempted under the bill.

“It’s to give the child that one last chance at life, and perhaps prevent remorse on the part of that mother at a later date,” Deuell said.

The legislation has been reworked from its original, but officials with Texas Alliance for Life informed LifeNews.com last month that, after careful analysis, the organization strongly supports the new version of the sonogram bill passed on April 12 by the Senate State Affairs Committee.

However, Texas Right to Life says the changes made to the bill water it down too much to support.

Under the legislation, prior to every abortion, the abortion practitioner or a certified sonographer must perform a sonogram before any sedative or anesthesia is administered. Currently, as revealed by public testimony, every abortion in Texas is preceded by a sonogram, and first trimester abortions are preceded by transvaginal sonograms. However, current Texas law has no sonogram standards for abortion facilities, and even transvaginal sonograms are performed by poorly trained, uncertified individuals, according to the public testimony, TAL explained.

Before every abortion, the abortion practitioner must give an explanation of the sonogram images of the unborn child. The woman may waive this right only in cases of rape, incest, fetal abnormality, and judicial bypass for a minor, the group noted. The abortion practitioner must also allow the woman to see the sonogram images of the unborn child and hear the heartbeat along with a verbal explanation of the heartbeat.

At least 24 hours before every abortion, TAL says the bill makes it so the abortion practitioner must have a private consultation with the woman to discuss the procedure, medical risks, and alternatives. Pojamn said this ensures that every woman has the right to speak with the abortion doctor at least 24 hours in advance about risks, complications, and alternatives, just as they would receive from a physician prior to virtually any other procedure.

For women who reside in counties with more than 60,000 people (more than 92% of women seeking abortions), the sonogram must be performed at least 24 hours before the abortion, and the consultation must be given in person. For women who reside in smaller counties or more than 100 miles from an abortion provider (less than 8% of women seeking abortions), the sonogram may be performed at least two hours before the abortion and the 24-hour private consultation may be done by phone.

The Texas Medical Board must take appropriate action against any abortion practitioner who violates the law, TAL says, and the Department of State Health Services must make random, unannounced inspections to ensure compliance.

Thanks to pro-life Governor Rick Perry making sonogram legislation an emergency item, the House and Senate made the bill a priority. When used in pregnancy centers, ultrasounds convince more than 80 percent of women considering an abortion to keep their baby or consider adoption.

INDIANAPOLIS, April 28, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A bill set to make Indiana the first state to cut Planned Parenthood taxpayer funding awaits a final decision from Governor Mitch Daniels after clearing the final hurdle in the state legislature yesterday.

The Indiana House passed the bill and sent it to Daniels, a possible contender for the 2012 GOP presidential ticket, in a 66-32 vote on Wednesday.

The legislation bars the state from entering into contracts with abortion providers aside from hospitals, and includes a ban on abortion past 20 weeks gestation, but with an exception for the health of the mother. The Indiana Senate passed the bill on April 20.

Political analysts note that Daniels’ reaction to the bill could have significant repercussions for his possible future as the Republican presidential candidate: the Indiana politician has fallen out of favor with social conservatives for famously calling for a “truce” on social issues in order to focus on budget and spending concerns.

The governor has not said whether he plans to approve the bill. He has one week to veto the legislation before it automatically becomes law. Local pro-life leaders, however, are optimistic.

“He’s always kept fiscal matters a top priority but proven consistently that he can and will deal with social issues like abortion at the same time,” Mike Fitcher, president of the Indiana Right to Life, told Politico.

Daniels has not confirmed that he will run against President Obama in 2012, but said he would announce his decision after the Indiana legislative session ends this Friday.

Indiana is one of several states recently to target Planned Parenthood funding after efforts on the federal level failed earlier this month. Legislation is moving forward in North Carolina, Minnesota, Kansas, Wisconsin and New Hampshire.

Early this morning, Live Action Investigator and sidewalk counselor Gaby Federico discovered an aborted baby in the parking lot of Hilltop Family Planning Clinic, an abortion clinic in El Paso, TX. The Hilltop clinic advertises abortions up to 15 weeks.

Federico and a fellow pro-life sidewalk counselor at the clinic were alerted to the find by a man who lives next door to the clinic. He said the night before, his dog had been sniffing around the parking lot and found the baby’s body parts lying on the ground. The man placed the body parts in a plastic bag next to the clinic and alerted Federico this morning. At approximately 9:15 AM, Federico and others found disarticulated tissue, two bloody legs with feet, and a severed hand in the bag.

Police arrived at the clinic around 11:30 AM and are investigating and interviewing clinic staff. Abortion clinic staff have claimed the body is not “theirs” and that they “dispose of bodies properly.” The Bishop of El Paso, Armando Achoa, is also at the clinic and has asked for the body to for a funeral and burial.

Upon viewing photographs of the body parts, former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson said they were remarkably well-developed. “The findings are consistent with the remains of an abortion procedure,” confirmed Johnson, who at Planned Parenthood worked for years as a “products of conception technician,” the abortion industry’s term for someone who reassembles baby body parts after an abortion. “Based on the development of the foot and the formation of the leg, and what appears to be a tear at the top of the leg, this looks like an abortion done through vacuum aspiration on a child at 12 to 14 weeks LMP.”

Federico spoke to police this morning, who began an investigation at the clinic. The clinic denies responsibility and reportedly told police they “dispose of everything properly.” The Bishop of El Paso, Armando Ochoa, has requested permission to bury the remains.

“This is horrible to know that these children are killed daily here in El Paso, not only without a burial, but to be disposed of in such an inhuman way. It’s not fair,” expressed Federico. “This shouldn’t ever happen, in El Paso or anywhere. The world needs to see what abortion clinics do to children. When dead babies start turning up in the clinic parking lot, no further proof is needed of what abortion is. These clinics need to be shut down.”

Lila Rose, president of Live Action, called the find was shocking and sobering. “On Good Friday, millions of Americans contemplate the mystery of the suffering and death of Jesus Christ. It is a fitting time to remember that thousands of children every day suffer the violent death of abortion, while too many stand by out of indifference or ignorance.”

Senate Democrats caved on the issue of abortion late Friday night despite facing enormous pressure from pro-abortion groups to hold the line on taxpayer funding of abortion and Planned Parenthood funding.

Republicans and Democrats agreed to a budget deal with less than two hours to spare before the federal government engaged in a partial shutdown. The deal restores language that prohibits federal taxpayer funding of abortions in the nation’s capital that President Barack Obama and Democrats removed in a previous budget when they controlled both chambers of Congress.

Secondly, the deal requires Senate Democrats to allow a vote on a bill the House Republicans already approved to repeal the pro-abortion Obamacare bill that contains abortion funding and rationing concerns.

The deal also requires something Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid said he would never allow — a vote in the Senate on revoking funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

“Those that I focused on are not only no, but hell no,” Reid said previouslyabout whether he would allow a vote on de-funding. “I’m not going to be part of that. I won’t do it,” he said about efforts to cut Planned Parenthood funding on the part of House Republicans.

Tonight, Speaker John Boehner forced him to allow a vote in the Senate on funding the abortion business that provides pro-life advocates an opportunity to further raise points about how Planned Parenthood doesn’t protect women’s health, has covered up cases of sexual abuse, and has used $363 million in annual federal funding from the government to prop up a business that now does more than one-quarter of all abortions in the nation.

The Planned Parenthood funding vote in the Senate also contains significant 2012 election implications for the three “pro-life” Democrats who will be up for re-election next year — Sens. Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Bob Casey of Pennsylvania. Other Democrats who are under the gun next election year and face tough re-election battles may also take heavy criticism from pro-life advocates if they vote to keep tens of millions of dollars going to the nation’s biggest abortion business.

The portion of the deal pertaining the banning taxpayer funding of abotion is already being hailed by pro-life groups as a significant victory and one that will result in saving the lives of 1,000 unborn children annually who may have been aborted.

The DC abortion funding ban would restore the Dornanamendment to ensure that no congressionally appropriated funds (whether locally or federally generated) may pay for abortion in the District of Columbia. The good news for pro-life advocates is that the inclusion of the Dornan Amendment in the one-week continuing resolution ensures it remains in place to prohibit abortion funding in the nation’s capital for the rest of the year.

When House Republicans put forward HR 1, the continuing resolution bill to fund the federal government for FY2011, they put language in the legislation to restore the ban on taxpayer funding of abortions in the District of Columbia that Obama and House Democrats overturned when they controlled the chamber. Since the defeat of HR 1, pro-life organizations have clamored for a restoration of the D.C. abortion funding ban and, now, it has returned.

The policy was in place from 1996-2009. Then, Democrats initially approved an omnibus spending bill lifting the 13-year-long ban on directly paying for abortions in the nation’s capital and Obama eventually signed the measure.

National Right to Life Committee legislative director Douglas Johnson wrote to members of Congress at that time urging them to oppose the bill because of the abortion funding in the District of Columbia and said the number of abortions in the nation’s capital would increase by 1,000 annually because of the taxpayer funding.

“The National Right to Life Committee urges you to vote against passage of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010 (H.R. 3288), because the bill would lift a longstanding prohibition on the use of funds appropriated by Congress to pay for elective abortions in the District of Columbia,” the group said in a letter LifeNews.com obtained.

“Prior to the initial adoption of the congressional ban, public funds were used to pay for over 4,000 abortions annually in the nation’s capital,” Johnson noted back then. “If the pro-life policy is lifted by enactment of H.R. 3288, public funding of elective abortion will resume, and the predictable result will be that the number of abortions performed will increase, probably by around 1,000 per year.”

Democrats have historically agreed to the language stopping taxpayer funding of abortions, also known as the DC Hyde Amendment.

The Dornan Amendment has even been included in numerous Appropriations bills supported by members on both sides of the abortion debate. Notably, Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin, who backs abortion, included the DC Abortion Funding ban in his own legislative text twice since Democrats gained control of the Senate in 2007. President Clinton signed this policy into law six times and President Obama signed the policy into law for FY09 and voted to continue the policy twice while serving in the U.S. Senate.

Earlier in the day, Reid also made the claim that cutting off Planned Parenthood funding is not about abortions and that cancer screenings are the real issue.

Yet, Live Action released videotaped footage of calls to 30 Planned Parenthood centers nationwide in 27 different states where abortion facility staff were asked whether or not mammograms could be performed on site. Every one of the Planned Parenthood centers admitted they could not do mammograms. Every Planned Parenthood, without exception, tells the women calling that they will have to go elsewhere for a mammogram, and many clinics admit that no Planned Parenthood clinics provide this breast cancer screening procedure.

“We don’t provide those services whatsoever,” admits a staffer at Planned Parenthood of Arizona while a staffer at Planned Parenthood’s Comprehensive Health Center clinic in Overland Park, Kansas tells a caller, “We actually don’t have a, um, mammogram machine, at our clinics.”

We Need Your Help!

First of all, let me start by saying that we wouldn’t be here in Clark County if it weren’t for you. I want to give you all my heartfelt gratitude for the thousands of changed lives you have contributed to. Many of you are aware that Options360˚ has been fighting legislation in Olympia regarding House Bill 1366 sponsored by Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice Washington. This has been an ongoing campaign by Planned Parenthood to damage, stigmatize and shut down Options360˚ and other pro-life pregnancy clinics throughout Washington State. These frivolous complaints include withholding medical records, violating confidentiality of our clients, not giving pregnancy test results, misleading women about the services we offer, giving false information regarding abortion, accusing us of being fake clinics, and providing fake ultrasound exams without medical diagnosis.

Planned Parenthood is able to sell these false accusations to the Washington State Legislature by using our tax dollars to pay for full-time lobbyists, buying politician’s votes (yes, even in Olympia) and threatening politician’s careers. This bill would mandate us to post a sign listing the services that we don’t provide (abortion, referral for abortion, and birth control) in the front window of each waiting room and additionally requiring us to state this clause in every initial conversation with the client, whether by phone or in person. This is the equivalent of McDonald’s requiring Taco Bell to post that they don’t sell hamburgers.

Singling us out because we refuse to provide abortions or abortion referrals is a violation of our First Amendment rights. You and I believe all life is precious. Planned Parenthood doesn’t. It is an unconstitutional form of discrimination. Worse yet, they know it! But the purpose is clear; mount the fines against these clinics and in time, put us out of service! Their objective is very apparent. If passed this session or next session, it exposes non-profit, faith-based pregnancy clinics to lawsuits even if we do nothing wrong. All it takes is one allegation to drag Options360˚ into court. This would quickly close us down.

A Call to Action

Several months ago were advised of a solution; a solution to put an end to these kinds of frivolous lawsuits and bad legislation. It has been recommended that we pursue a course of action through accreditation by the State of Washington. This certificate of accreditation would give Options360˚ a level of protection, or exempt status, from future destructive legislation. We would finally be on the offensive instead of the defensive.

Accreditation is becoming a necessary protection for Pregnancy Resource Clinics across this nation. To protect these clinics, and the women they serve, we must continue to move forward in this fight to safeguard woman’s rights and continue to provide the highest quality care. Accreditation provides the needed protection from “NARAL” the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League, and Planned Parenthood.

We are coming to you today because you have been a great partner to Options360˚ and already have a tremendous investment in the lives of each baby rescued, for which we cannot thank you enough! The cost of accreditation for our three clinics is $27,500! By obtaining this status, Options360˚ will be recognized as a “true medical facility” by the State of Washington. Our stand has been, and always will be, that each dollar coming into Options360˚ Pregnancy Clinic will be used towards rescuing baby’s lives; not to fight legislation or frivolous lawsuits brought on by NARAL and its associates.

This is why we come to you and ask for your help in raising the necessary $27,500 to become accredited, thus shielding Options360˚ Pregnancy Clinics from future costly attacks.

Will you help us? We are asking you to consider a generous gift of $100, $500 or even $1,000 to help us continue serving these women and providing the level of help they desperately need!

Time is of the essence, so once again we thank you for your consideration, and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the number listed below.

Thank You! God bless you, Reneé Wooten Executive Director Options360˚ Pregnancy Clinic (360) 687-8943
